Make-up Heaven!

I have never really worn much make-up, even in high school I was never the girl sent to wash the orange line off my neck caused by way too much foundation. A swipe of mascara and some eyeliner and I was ready to go. I'm serious! I didn't even understand the use of an eyebrow pencil until I was 17.

That's strange to me now because I couldn't imagine my face without a nice set of eyebrows courtesy of Bobbi Brown. There is one item of make-up however that has always fascinated me and that is... Lipstick! I LOVE it. I have gradually built up quite a hefty collection, my particular favourite is Rouge Coco by Chanel. I much prefer matte rather than a glossy lipstick in particular reds, purples or maybe a coral colour.

Basically, I now adore make-up even though I still don't necessarily wear a lot. The smell when you walk into a department store, I like the fact I can browse the make-up section whilst the smell of Gucci's latest perfume teases my senses.

On Wednesday I went to the Marie Claire event in London based in House of Fraser on Oxford Street. This included a goodie bag full of little treats, complimentary drinks, an edition of Marie Claire and many make-up brands set up stations with special offers. It was a great chance to browse the latest make-up collections and speak to the beauty editors of Marie Claire who were there to offer some expert advice. I spent most of my time around the Chanel counter although of course I made sure I checked everywhere out though, I didn't want to miss any hidden gems!

I just had to sneak this final picture in so you can all appreciate and get on board my love for Natalie Portman. I think she is a complete natural beauty with the best skin I have ever seen! Not many people can pull off natural make-up with nude colours and look stunning, then swap to dark eyes and red lips and look equally as stunning. Dior made a wise decision when they chose her as their celebrity ambassador.

Have a brill weekend. I'm hoping my second week as a fashion student will be just as great as the first.

London Fashion Weekend

One week into the course, actually... not even one week yet and we have been sent on our very first mission. Street style!

Although we went for the day at London Fashion Week it was very limited as we could only use the public areas. Still a brilliant opportunity to check out some of the people passing by, between shows and even the other bloggers were looking great but I wanted more. So me and my other fashion friends bought ourselves a ticket to London Fashion Weekend, the closest thing we could get to the mayhem. How exciting!

The ticket included access to all areas (stalls, shops, exhibitions) and a choice of a designer catwalk show or a trend catwalk show so we decided to opt for the designer show. Luckily we caught the Gulien Macdonald show and I thought it was fabulous.

Of course, I couldn't possibly deprive you of the shots I got during the Julien Macdonald catwalk show, enjoy!

As you can see, the main colours of the collection included black and gold but red and white were also included. The evening dresses especially; showed elegance, but the whole collection was dripping with class. I am a massive fan of low, open back dresses so I particularly enjoyed the gold dress, sparkling with sequins and a short train and the red evening dress which was not only covered in sequins but had tassels reminding me of the 1920's style flappers. The range of textures included in the line from sequins to fur to lace really shows off Julien Macdonals skills as a designer. I will be sure to keep my eyes on his upcoming work.

The Beginning of an Exciting Journey

And so it begins... I'm not old enough for University yet am I? As my Mum, my Boyfriend and I finish cramming the last few unessential kitchen utensils in to my Mums Ford Focus I begin to think not only 'When have I ever needed to use a potato masher?' but also, crap. Uni starts here.

I am now an official resident of Epsom, Surrey. Well for Thirty Eight weeks of the year I am. Living so close to London is perfect for my University course Fashion Journalism as I am sure it will open many new doors for me. Considering I'm from the small town, Crewe in Cheshire not being in Central London is easing me in slowly.

After an induction week full of ice breakers and fire safety talks I am now an official fashion student and I couldn't be more excited about it. I'm ready to get stuck in and work my ass off. Our preliminary task was to head into London to Somerset House and capture the street style around the area and there certainly was STYLE.

Here are a few of the pictures I took showing off a range of looks:
