An Overdue Reunion

On Friday my closest friend came to over to stay for the night. I met Alice at University so I haven't even known her for a year yet however she is the most loyal and reliable friend I have which proves it definitely isn't about how long you have known somebody. Alice is from Oxfordshire so when she arrived I wanted to show her the best parts of Cheshire I could think of.

After a trip into Nantwich for milkshakes and sweets we went out for dinner at Gusto's in Alderly Edge, definitely the nicest place in Cheshire! I am a huge fan of Gusto's and take regular trips to the Knutsford and Aldery restaurant. The food menu has so much choice and I have never had a bad meal. Not to mention the cocktails... AMAZING! I particularly love the peach daiquiri or passion fruit mojito. A few of my close friends from home came along too so with great company and great food we had a really lovely night.

Here is what we wore: As you can see we are very colour coordinated in our monochrome. I am very simple with my love for back and white, its not very often you see me wearing anything too colourful.

I love the all white trend right now HOWEVER I think it is a look that can go very wrong. I have a pet hate for wearing two different shades of white in one outfit. Unless you have bought the items as a set be extra careful. fortunately, my two items are from completely different shops and are completely different fabric yet they still match. Lucky me! Ever since buying my River Island flat forms I have been unable to force myself to wear standard heels as they are so comfy. I gripped my hair up to keep my look as sophisticated as possible (plus it was boiling and my hair was looking a tad Monica from Friends in the humidity). I used my plain black clutch from River Island and opted out of accessories and stuck with the Gucci watch only. My culottes are from Topshop and everything else is River Island. For years I rarely even went in to RI and now all of a sudden I am some kind of promo girl.

I know that Alice's jumpsuit is from Topshop. It looked really cool and airy as it was made of a light jersey material but the mesh shoulders at the top dresses it up a lot. Her black studded clutch is also from Topshop because it is actually mine but I think the black outfit, red lips and studded bag looks super cool.

On Saturday I took Alice into Manchester and we went to the Manchester Bloggers Meet at The Milton Club. The venue was gorgeous and so classy! The room we were based in was so chilled and spacious with lots of seating. I could tell it is the type of place I would like in the evening and they also take on private functions and I think it would be perfect for birthdays and other special occasions. There were some fun ice breaker activities including T-shirt designing, quizzes and blogger bingo, its always nice to chat to other bloggers. Then I had to get up and chat to them about Fashion Feed, the company I am interning for and then we finished off with a raffle. It was so well organised and lots of amazing brands got involved. There is another event in October that I will hopefully be able to go to if I'm not too wrapped up in London life.

So that was my weekend, lots of treats and naughty food but it was straight back to the gym this morning. Hope you all had a great weekend in the sun!

DUBLIN IN PICTURES

A month or so ago my friends and I decided to book flights to Dublin for a long weekend, for £30 return flights from Manchester to Dublin how could we turn it down?

Me and three of my girl friends have just got back from the best 4 days and I have to say Dublin exceeded all of my expectations. We booked into a hostel call Generator and considering it was only £95 for 3 nights we couldn't have asked for more. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless and there was a lively bar downstairs in the evening, it was so central as well. Check out the website here http://generatorhostels.com/en/ as they have hostels in a number of locations and I definitely recommend them.

On the first day we checked in and walked around to get our bearings before getting ready to go out for a 'quiet night'. We returned home at 3.30am because we couldn't pull ourselves away from the Irish bars and pubs playing traditional Irish music. We all loved it and it was then that we agreed that the weekend was going to perfect.

My outfit. It seemed like a hat and kimono kind of day.

At the bar in the hostel, we weren't sure what to expect but still excited all the same.

On our first full day we walked to Phoenix Park and rented bikes (only 5 euros for a few hours). We went and saw all the sights that the massive park (5 times the size of Hyde Park) had to offer along with picking up some stray, middle aged, Irishman on his bike who seemed to like talking. It was different and we all had a great time. Everyone knows im the outdoorsy type, so that was right up my street. Here is some pictures we took, we managed to get some good action shots too:

That night we went on an Irish pub crawl where watched the UFC, luckily the Irish won so everyone was in good spirits. We went to four pubs and one club. I was a little worried that since im not a massive drinker I wouldn't make the most of it but I actually really enjoyed it and I think anyone who is going to Dublin has to do it. It is a great way to meet people and chat to travellers who have lots of interesting stories.

After a few drinks I thought this was hilarious

After returning at 3.30am once again we decided the only cure to the hangovers would be burgers. We went for lunch at Eddie Rockets which is very similar to Ed's Diner. I had a Skinny Beach burger which had a wholemeal bun, low fat cheese and lots of salad. I watch what I eat a lot at home and because I exercise so much if I do eat something that full of fat it tends not to sit well with me so I always look for slightly healthier option and I have to say it was the best burger I have EVER had. The girls all agreed so we went back the next day too.

We strolled around the high street and then made our way back to get ready for our final night in Dublin. We went to a bar called Badbobs, we loved it so much we went there every single night and anybody planning to go to Dublin should definitely seek it out. The drinks are reasonably priced and the music is amazing and because it was Sunday they had some live singers in which we loved. I of course recommended Fleetwood Mac (my all time favourites) and got a brilliant Irish version of  'Go Your Own Way'. We ended up in an Irish lock in, where they basically lock you in as a private party so they can continue serving out of business hours. It turned into such a good night that we totally lost track of time and stayed until 5.30am and our walk home was along the sunrise which we actually really enjoyed...

Hope you enjoy our pictures from Dublin. We had a perfect girly weekend full of laughs and Vodka and we all agreed we will return to Dublin in our second attempt of finding Gerard Butler.

A Slice Of Summer

Just a quick midweek post. Today has been such great weather that it had to be outfit post time! After getting sweaty at a body combat and kettlecise class I knew I wanted an outfit as cool and comfortable as possible . As I was searching through the dresses and playsuits section of my wardrobe (yes there are sections in my wardrobe) I came across this Topshop playsuit that I haven't worn in years.

I love the vintage style and I think the neckline is so cute. Its navy blue with white speckles and the front is cut into two parts so the top section ties up above the shorts. The material is so thin and light so its perfect for a hot day. I wore it with my white Topshop sneakers and H&M sunglasses. A very Topshop based outfit but I cant complain!

Of course I couldn't resist a cheeky scoop of mint choc chip ice cream in the sun either. Hope you have all had a great day!

Holiday Blues

I have recently returned back to the UK after a gorgeous and relaxing fortnight in Rhodes, the beautiful Greek island. We had 14 scorching hot days of lying on our sunbeds and doing nothing but eat plenty of ice cream. It was such a delightful change to the dull English weather and I was also in need of a getaway as I love to be able to turn my phone and mind off from the outside world.

We stayed in a beautiful little town called Lindos, if you have ever been to Rhodes you will probably know it as it is a prime spot for tourists as the traditional Greek town boasts the Acropolis along with many shops, cafes and lovely rooftop restaurants. After we have visited many countries and never enjoyed them as much as the Greek islands we decided to break our promise to 'never visit anywhere twice' and head back to Rhodes. We stayed in a villa that we booked through James Villas and it was perfect! It was placed up on the south side of a mountain so we got all day sun along with peace and quiet that you definitely wouldn't get at a hotel. Although I LOVE to people watch I wouldn't trade in the silence and the privacy of our own villa just to watch a few people fall over by the pool.

A few nights we stayed in and had a BBQ which was lovely but most nights we went out into Lindos for their amazing traditional food and the pleasant Greek service. After a day of sitting by the pool it was nice to get dressed up and get out for the evening. Here is what I wore a few nights we went out:

Playsuit: Topshop  Shoes: Depop

Jumpsuit: Asos  Necklace: Topshop

Trousers/Top: Topshop  Shoes: River Island

Playsuit: Topshop

Dress: Topshop

Top: Zara  Skirt: Topshop  Shoes: River Island

We also ventured up the Acropolis which was a good morning out and its always nice to experience a bit of history and culture. It was SO hot though and there was so many people and Donkeys roaming the streets of Lindos. I would recommend anybody to go and see the remains and the views at the top are breath taking, it was cheap as well.

Me and my brother at the top of the Acropolis
And here are just a few more pictures from my time in Rhodes:

We may be 23 and 19 but never too old to play catch.

One thing I particularly LOVE about holidays is the amount of down time there is. It means its about the only time of year I get to read a book or two, or three. Every year I plough through a few books and vow that I will keep reading all year round however life just happens and I never stick to it. I read three incredible books this year. 'The Husbands Secret' by Liane Moriarty, about three different women dealing with many different secrets. I had heard a lot about this book but it exceeded all expectations with so many amazing twists and turns I couldn't put it down. Then I read 'The Little Coffee Shop Of Kabul' by Deborah Rodriguez was interesting not only because of the events happing around the five female main characters but I never knew quite what went on in Afghanistan. I wasn't sure I would enjoy a book set in the Middle East but I feel like I know so much more about the culture now and I fell in love with every single character. Finally I read 'Its All About Treo' by Dave Heyhoe. Its the real life story of a British sniffer dog serving his time in Afghan. Its written by the dog handler himself and as a true dog lover I fell in love with Treo and have new rush of respect towards the armed forces. I read the whole book in the last 3 days and I recommend it to anybody.

The only problem now is that, well, my holiday is over. Its back to reality where I have to read my emails and actually do some work. It already feels like a need a holiday and I'm just yearning for my tan to stick around as long as possible. I would go back to Lindos in a heart beat and I just hope its not too long until I can return.
